The station is the place of transition par excellence, and a number of Milanese stations have got together to offer distracted commuters a moment of interaction, culture and warmth. The project envisages the staging of workshops, meetings, events and exhibitions. ArtePassante arose out of the certainty that “popularising knowledge and culture can really change people’s understanding”. In April 2014, the Californian street artist Zio Ziegler painted some of the walls on the mezzanine of Repubblica Station: the mural is set to remain on permanent display and is visible whenever the underpass is open.
