Museo Poldi Pezzoli

Museo Poldi Pezzoli

Part of the circuit of House-Museums of Milan, the spaces that now constitute the museum were once the residence of the art collector and enthusiast Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, son of Giuseppe and heir to an enormous art collection. To visit the museum today is to take a trip into a historic home awash with details, in which the passion, dedication, refinement and eclectic taste of Gian Giacomo come across very strongly. Having died childless, he bequeathed his collection – containing unique masterpieces by Bellini, Mantegna, Botticelli, Hayez, Pollaiuolo, Bartolini and Ribera, as well as myriad beautiful, priceless furnishings, watches, arms, rugs, pieces of jewellery and ceramics – “for public use and benefit”.
