Already described by Alessandro Manzoni in his “I promessi sposi” (The Betrothed), this ancient pharmacy boasts more than a hundred years of experience in the service of health: its foundation dates back to 1750. The large dark cabinets – in which the preparations were stored in alphabetical order – decorated with small bronze sculptures, the large drawers, the traditional ceramic vases containing medicinal herbs, still make the atmosphere of this place particularly suggestive. The fame of the pharmacy is closely linked to the birth of Amaro Medicinale Giuliani. It is in fact in the laboratory of the back store that in the 50s Germano Giuliani produced for customers the digestive made of herbs that he brought from Austria.
