Old America

Old America

The shop was founded in 1954 by sisters Anita and Livia Francia, and has retained its rustic, welcoming feel, which was inspired by the English and American country style. This stylistic choice arose out of both an interest in antiques and an affection for the films of Sergio Leone, who in that period had a warm but unpretentious approach. During the economic boom, the two sisters passionately furnished (for the most part, second) homes, inventing new fashions by re-using, for example, old irons as flower boxes. “Signorina Livia” still retains great enthusiasm for her work and, at the age of 83, continues to open up the shop, which she considers a home from home, offering an exquisite welcome to all customers.
